The young plumber of the year 2010 was female.

Aimee Paterson won the BBC Young Plumber of the Year Award 2010. 23-year-old Aimee was short-listed from hundreds of applicants to compete in the competition and was up against stiff competition from three of the best Young Plumbers in the industry for the title, in a fiercely fought out competition which was televised on the BBC in December 2010.

Judges included Charlie Mullins, founder of the multi-million pound Pimlico Plumbers, and expert plumber Chris Young, who put the finalists through their paces to select a winner.

The young plumbers had to show off their skills by competing in various exercises including accurate soldering, fault finding and repair, Planning activities, water pressure and flow and a question and answer session. Aimee came out on top with an excellent all-round performance.

Aimee stated that she was thrilled to have won and that it was the hardest thing she had ever done.
